Get Well Soon by Laura Harris Smith

Many times when we are young, we feel invincible. Then as we grow older, we start to feel some health issues beginning. Laura Harris Smith shares her remedies and spiritual prayers for healing whatever may ail you in Get Well Soon.

Get Well Soon is divided in to three parts: Part One: Employing Your Spirit and Mind for Bodily Healings. In this section, Smith goes in to great detail to merge the body, mind and spirit for healing. She breaks down verses in the Bible from the original Greek and she shares experiences from her own healing. She also shares her history and what her degree means. Part Two: Blessing and Healing Prayers for Your Whole Body. In this section, Smith gives prayers to pray over every system in the body and prayers for specific issues in the body. Part Three: Get Well, Stay Well. In this smaller, final section of the book, Smith offers advice for how to handle stubborn illnesses that are difficult to treat. She also leaves a benediction at the end of the book that is a positive reading to end on.

I enjoyed reading Get Well Soon. I liked how the author offered checklists for the reader to see how and when they got sick. I liked how she offers advice holistically--to help the mind, body and spirit work together for healing. Most of all, I liked the prayers that she has for many specific conditions and for certain areas of blessing in the body. I also liked that she shares how she is utilizing the practices that she encourages others to use. She doesn't seem to be above other people. Smith also has a website where you can go and listen to the blessings and print off the checklists so you don't have to write in the book if you don't want to. She does write Get Well Soon from a Christian perspective so a belief in God and faith in His healing possibilities is a necessary basis for the book. My one concern is that at times she references her other books and products she sells on her website. It isn't necessary  to purchase the items to make good use of the book, but they do indicate that she is selling something more than the book. It didn't really bother me, but I think it does turn some people off. Otherwise, I think Get Well Soon is a great practical book, especially for looking at health from a spiritual perspective but it does emphasize holistic health. I also think for those people especially interested in essential oils that they will appreciate her referencing how to use them in Get Well Soon, along with other remedies.

I received this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review.
