Healing Rain: Immersing yourself in Christ's Love to Find Wholeness of Mind, Body, and Heart by Sue Detweiler

Image
Are you a Christian that is also pursuing healing in some area? Sue Detwilder hosts a popular podcast entitled Healing Rain . Now she has released a book with that same title. Healing Rain is aimed a charismatic audience. This book offers a mix of Bible-based wisdom, testimonies of other Christians who sought healing or were healed, prayers, Bible verses and keys to healing from Jesus' life. This book also helps with holistic healing in heart--mind, body and emotions.I like that it covers every area of your life that may need healing. Some of us need healing in more than one area too. I also like that there are discussion guide questions and helps in the back of the book. Healing Rain would be a great book to do with a group of like-minded Christians, although it can also be read and used on your own. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. One Word for Today: For Spirit-Filled Living from Chosen Books

Image
One Word For Today from Chosen books is a 90-day devotional with short devotions. But this book is short but "not a quick snack, but a meal to savor throughout your day." Each of the 90 readings is focused on a topic such as wisdom, joy, comfort, and light. Each one includes a Bible verse, a short reading, something to think about and reflect on throughout the day, a prayer, a declaration sentence and an idea of how to put the reading in practice that day.  I like these short readings in One Word for Today because they are indeed meaty. They offer me something to think about, reflect and do each day. I can read it fairly fast in the morning but I do like to reflect on the reading and prompts throughout the day. I would recommend One Word for Today for anyone wanting a new devotional and it would make a nice gift too. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. The Complete Guide to Dream Interpretation by Marsha Trimble Dunstan

Image
I often remember my dreams and I wonder what they mean. Maybe you do too? The Complete Guide to Dream Interpretation by Marsha Trimble Dunstan is a great tool for the Christian to use to interpret dreams. The Complete Guide to Dream Interpretation is part the author explaining how to interpret your dreams and part dreamer's dictionary to explain what common dream symbols mean. Dunstan explains that she has been studying and teaching others about dreams and interpretations for nearly two decades. She says that she sees her book as a tool that needs to be used correctly by  the reader through discernment, faith and a good relationship with the Holy Spirit. She shares common dream questions she has answered over the years, the steps to interpreting dreams and some example of types of dreams and their interpretations. I found The Complete Guide to Dream Interpretation to be an interesting book. I especially like that this book comes at the topic from a Christian angle since my...

Singing the Scriptures by Julie Meyer

Image
Like many Christians, you may have spent time memorizing Scripture, but what about taking the time to sing the Scriptures? Singing the Scriptures by Julie Meyer gives Christians guidance on how singing the Scriptures can lead them into a deeper spiritual life. Meyer says "it only takes a Bible and a willingness to engage God in song." I think that means means that you don't have to be the best singer, God will enjoy your voice regardless if you are willing to try it. Singing the Scriptures offers advice and "how to" on taking scripture verses and singing them back to God as a form of personal worship. Each chapter offers practical advice and information followed by prayer, questions to ask yourself, and access to an on-line video to demonstrate how singing the scriptures works. Meyer is a Dove-nominated artist and worship leader who leads workshops on singing the scriptures so she shares from a place of knowledge as well as a heart for serving God. I so ...
