Audio book of Perfect by Kimberly Keagan

Image
I listened to the audio-book of Perfect: A Sweet Guilded Age Romance by Kimberly Keagan. This is the first book in the Hearts on Display series. The narrator was Robin McAlpine and she did a good job of making the story interesting with her voice. William Walraven and his brother Bert Walraven left Philadelphia to head up the construction and development of the family's first New York department store. William has worked hard to make this store top-notch in spite of constant struggles with his father--who doesn't want to let go of the helm in spite of others urging him to retire to restore his health. Ivy King and her grandmother run a bookstore that Ivy's parents owned before they passed away. They work hard to make it go and have faced some challenges. Ivy also works as a librarian part time at a private nearby library. One day Ivy twists her ankle while walking on a street near William and they meet. As time goes on, he and Bert check on Ivy at the bookstore and the c...

Not Forsaken by Louie Giglio (audio book)

Image
Maybe you had a wonderful father. Perhaps your dad was cold and distant and not really engaged with you. Or maybe you didn't know your father at all. Irregardless of the type of father you had, Louie Giglio shares in his new book, Not Forsaken , that God is not a reflection of your earthly dad. Not Forsaken is the first audio book that I have listened to on my device. I truly enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator did a good job of reading and keeping my interest in the content. I felt myself want to keep going in the book and to know more about how to re-frame my view of God and to take this information to better live out the Christian life.  Not Forsaken was an interesting book to me. Without going in to details, I had a dad that has left me with an empty hole in my heart. I like how Giglio invites us to see God differently though this book . I especially liked how it started out with the Watch Me chapter. . .Boy did it bring back memories of being younger and wanti...

Review: Brinkman Family Adventure CDs

Image
The Brinkman Family adventure CDs are based on the adventures of real missionaries who share some of their humorous escapades through the Brinkman Family tales. The stories are dramatized with various voices for the different characters, along the lines of the Adventure in Odyssey stories. My son is 11 and he enjoyed them. The jacket says that children under the age of 10 may find the stories to be intense so they encourage parents to listen along with them. They seemed to be the right amount of adventure for my son's age as he didn't get too worried and just seemed to enjoy the stories. These CDs would be great to have for long car rides. They would be good to help kids see the excitement in being a missionary. You can purchase these CDs for yourself at: http://brinkmanadventures.com/   You can even listen to a sample at: http://brinkmanadventures.com/listen . They operate on a donation basis and they can download the episodes on the site or order physical CD's.  If...
