Edit Your Life by Elisabeth Sharp McKetta

Image
One of my goals is to spend less time on-line this year. When I saw Edit Your Life: A Handbook for Living with Intention by Elisabeth Sharp McKetta, I wanted to see what advice this book had to offer that would help me as I work towards my goals, including that one. This book is aimed at anyone wanting to make changes in any or all areas of their lives--at any age. Edit Your Life is divided into three parts. Part One is Examine Your Life. There are some questions to ask yourself and points to think about in this section. What is it? What Could it Be? What is Needed? The author offers suggestions on how to claim what is necessary FOR YOUR LIFE, and discard what is not. It isn't the same for everyone. We are all unique people and she makes that clear. Part 2 is to Edit Your Life. Edit for Clarity, Growth and Generosity. The author makes suggestions in each of these areas. She includes examples from her life and the lives of others she knows.  Part 3 is to Enjoy Your Life. En...

Healing Rain: Immersing yourself in Christ's Love to Find Wholeness of Mind, Body, and Heart by Sue Detweiler

Are you a Christian that is also pursuing healing in some area? Sue Detwilder hosts a popular podcast entitled Healing Rain . Now she has released a book with that same title. Healing Rain is aimed a charismatic audience. This book offers a mix of Bible-based wisdom, testimonies of other Christians who sought healing or were healed, prayers, Bible verses and keys to healing from Jesus' life. This book also helps with holistic healing in heart--mind, body and emotions.I like that it covers every area of your life that may need healing. Some of us need healing in more than one area too. I also like that there are discussion guide questions and helps in the back of the book. Healing Rain would be a great book to do with a group of like-minded Christians, although it can also be read and used on your own. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions within this review are my own.

The Answer to Anxiety by Joyce Meyer

Image
Do you struggle with worry and anxiety? At one time, I had a big struggle with it. .. but now not as often, thankfully. The Answer to Anxiety by Joyce Meyer is a fairly short book that could be helpful for those who struggle with anxiety. The Answer to Anxiety is based on Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV), " Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and peace of God, which passes all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Throughout the book, Meyer reflects on various aspects of this passage, along with other Bible passages, as well as stories from her own Christian walk with God to encourage readers who struggle with anxiety. This isn't a very long book and can be read fairly quickly or it could be read more slowly to better focus on the precepts and learn what Meyer is teaching. I always appreciate how practical Meyer's books are. I also like how she does...

The Rooted Life by Justin Rhodes

Image
The Rooted Life by Justin Rhodes is a gorgeous book that could be truly inspiring for those who want to grow their own food and live a more sustainable lifestyle that is connected to the land. The Rooted Life is full of color photos that show beautiful pictures of gardens, chickens, egs, harvesting produce and time spent together as a family enjoying the land. I wasn't familiar with this author before this book but he teaches people to grow their own food through a YouTube channel and his own streaming platform called Abundance. Some of this information may be from those platforms but it is all new to me through this book. If you are new to gardening and raising chickens, there is a lot of step-by-step instructions along with the pictures in this book. There is also a chapter with recipes using garden produce, chicken and/or eggs in them. Everything is up-to-date and helpful for life in our world today. There is also an appendix in the back that shows how much space to leave in ...
