Brave the Page: How Writing Our Hard Stories Brings Healing and Wholeness by Megan Febuary released on June 3, 2025. I just started this book and am looking forward to learning how the writing process can help heal my own hard stories. When you’ve endured a traumatic experience or loss, it can feel like your mind, body, and spirit have been hijacked. Frightening, negative, or depressive thoughts intrude out of nowhere. Muscles tighten, teeth grind. Your sense of self-worth plummets. Amid all the swirling chaos, you may even question your faith and the goodness of God as you long for peace, wholeness, and holy calm. One of the best and most effective weapons against the turmoil and pain you feel is quite possibly within arm’s reach right now. It’s waiting in your desk drawer, in your car’s glovebox, at the bottom of your purse. It’s a pen. And if you wield it with courage, it can open the door to freedom. Weaving personal storytelling with research-based insights, gent...

Healing Rain: Immersing yourself in Christ's Love to Find Wholeness of Mind, Body, and Heart by Sue Detweiler

Are you a Christian that is also pursuing healing in some area? Sue Detwilder hosts a popular podcast entitled Healing Rain . Now she has released a book with that same title. Healing Rain is aimed a charismatic audience. This book offers a mix of Bible-based wisdom, testimonies of other Christians who sought healing or were healed, prayers, Bible verses and keys to healing from Jesus' life. This book also helps with holistic healing in heart--mind, body and emotions.I like that it covers every area of your life that may need healing. Some of us need healing in more than one area too. I also like that there are discussion guide questions and helps in the back of the book. Healing Rain would be a great book to do with a group of like-minded Christians, although it can also be read and used on your own. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions within this review are my own.

God Heals: Eight Keys to Defeat Sickness and Receive Divine Healing by Steve Austin

Image
God Heals: Eight Keys to Defeat Sickness and Receive Divine Healing by Steve Austin is book that offers hope for all Christians battling a serious illness (or their loved ones). God Heals is divided into eight sections with key takeaways: God is a Healer, Unleashing the Power of Faith, Miracle in Your Mouth, Prayer That Works, Praise Precedes the Victory, Healing the Soul, Winning the Invisible Battle, and Taking Care of Your Temple. Following the eight keys, there is a chapter about how Jesus used healing in the Bible and then a chapter of short devotions designed to build faith in the reader to receive healing. I learned a lot through God Heals . There was also information I already knew as a Christian but some of it I needed a reminder or refresher on. All of the information is presented with Scripture to back it up. There are also some good real life stories of healing in the book, which are also encouraging. At the same time, Austin shares how and why healing may not happe...

How Healing Works by Wayne Jonas, MD

Image
If you have ever been faced with a serious health issue, you may have struggled with our Western health care system and wondered what else would be the most helpful to heal from whatever it is that you are facing. How Healing Works by Wayne Jonas, MD, is an interesting read for those who want to find healing for themselves or for those who are interested in health care in general. Jonas divides this book into three sections: Rethinking Healing, The Dimensions of Healing, and Your Healing Journey. He also includes appendices for additional resources to help on your personal healing journey. Jonas shares a lot of people's case studies throughout the book, including that of his wife. He also shares how he used research to learn how healing works--and how healing can't always be measured but that doesn't mean it won't work. He tells stories of those who were clearly healed in spite of methods that couldn't be quantified. Dr. Jonas initially comes at the research a...
