Managing Your Emotions by Joyce Meyer

Image
Every day is full of emotional highs and lows. Do you know how to manage your emotions? Joyce Meyer has a new 90-day devotional book, Managing Your Emotions , that could help you do just that. At the start of Managing Your Emotions , Meyer has an introduction explaining why she wrote the book, her struggle with emotions in the past, and how the book could be helpful to you. Then there are 90 days worth of readings. Each day starts with a Bible verse, then has a short reading related to emotions, and ends with a prayer.  Managing Your Emotions is easy to read and understand. I always appreciate Meyer's down-to-earth approach in her books. They are easy to read and easy to relate to. She doesn't come off as someone who is "above you." Rather she is a human pastor struggling right alongside you. This book is a good size to stick in your purse, briefcase or book bag since it measures roughly 5 by 7 inches in size. I have to add that I like that cover with the mix of su...

The Heart in Pilgrimage: A Treasury of Classic Devotionals on the Christan Life by Leland Ryken

Image
Honestly, it has been awhile since I have revisited some of the faith classics. The Heart in Pilgrimage by Leland Ryken is a good book to revisit many of the Christian classical devotions. Physically, The Heart in Pilgrimage is a beautifully bound book with the feel of a classic hardcover book. It measures a little over six by nine inches in size and is 3/4 of an inch thick. The gold writing on the burgundy cloth cover and rich, creamy pages, with a ribbon marker makes it truly lovely and it would make a nice gift for the right person who would treasure it. The Heart in Pilgrimage includes fifty devotionals from historic authors such as Augstine, John Calvin, Jane Austin, Charles Spurgeon, Brother Lawrence, J. I. Packer and many other classic faith writers throughout the years.  Each one includes a reading from the classic writer as well as some commentary from Ryken and ends with a Bible verse.  The book does start with an introduction and Ryken explains why he include...

Beautiful Wisdom Daily Devotions is a lovely devotional both inside and out. The cover is gorgeous and each page has a pretty decorations of butterflies and flowers around the edges. There is also a ribbon marker. There are 365 devotions in this book, which is more than one for every day of the year. You can start the book at any time of the year. Topics include: Mondays, Bitterness, Thankfulness, Saying Good Things and Forgiveness, among many other topics. Each day's reading includes a Scripture verse from the New Life Bible Translation, a short reading on the day's topic, and a short prayer. Beautiful Wisdom would make a nice gift because it is so pretty. It would also be nice for yourself as it is small enough to fit in your purse or book bag quite easily if you want to read on the go or when you have time. I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions within this review are my own.

Strength For Each Day by Joyce Meyer

I don't know about you, but my days go much better when I start off with my devotional for the day. Strength for Each Day by Joyce Myer is a daily devotional with a year's worth of devotions. Each day starts off with a Bible verse, includes a reading written by Joyce Meyer, and concludes with a short prayer. Strength For Each Day is a small book that would be easy to carry with you in your purse or book bag to read any time of day if you don't have time in the morning. It measures about 5 by 7 inches. The cover has pretty flowers on it, as you can see, but each page also is decorated with a floral background. In the brief introduction, Meyer encourages readers to read each devotional slowly, to think about what they read, and to consider how they can apply it to their own life. There are a variety of topics in the readings: gratitude, self-care, kindness, honesty, peace, and wisdom among many other topics. I think Meyer is so easy to relate to in her writing and this ...
