Between the Sound and the Sea by Amanda Cox

Book cover for Between the Sound and Sea: (Inspirational Contemporary Fiction with History and Mystery at a North Carolina Lighthouse) by Amanda Cox

Josephina has had a rough time lately. Her family members aren't speaking to each other. They also moved out of town, leaving her to run her business alone. Then the business her father owned was sold to a crook who took advantage of people in town. Some people even blamed Josephina even though she had nothing to do with it. What will she do now?

Josephina's friend comes up with a solution in an ad she sees about restoring a lighthouse in North Carolina. Josephina puts in for the job as a way to get away from some of her troubles temporarily and hope that all the hoopla dies down.

While restoring the lighthouse, Josephina meets some fun new folks. Walt owns the lighthouse and wants to make amends for some of his own wrongs in the past. Finn is Walt's grandson and he is helping to oversee the project. He thought Josephina, aka Joey, was a man to start with so they didn't exactly get off on the right foot. Joey shows Walt and Finn that she can take on the job and do what she was hired to do. . .and maybe then some.

I enjoyed Between the Sound and Sea. This is a story of redemption and forgiveness for more than one character. I liked how there were mysteries to be solved. I liked how the relationship between Finn and Joey progressed. I just really found most of these characters to be lovable with both good points and some faults just like most of us. I enjoy older people so Walt was fun to get to know and I enjoyed his learning his whole story. I also enjoyed the other characters in the book, the rich description and the plot. It all worked together to create a great book. Between the Sound and Sea was a wonderful read.

I received a copy of this book from the author and the publisher. All opinions within this review are my own.
