The Summer of Yes by Courtney Walsh

 The Summer of Yes

Kelsey Worthington was just going to Starbucks for coffee for her office-mates. How did she end up in the hospital--and with a terrible headache, no less?

Kelsey also soon discovers she has a roommate--who is none other than Georgina Tate, a legendary matriarch and New York businesswoman. Kelsey is a young businesswoman who is trying to make something of herself at work as an editor. Georgina is a confident businesswoman who owns a cosmetics company. She also has failing kidneys and some regrets lingering in her life.

Kelsey asks Georgina some pointed questions. Georgina finally answers and makes Kelsey sign a NDA. The two don't exactly hit it off but they do a bit of collaborating with some help from Kelsey and JP, Georgina's right hand man. Together, they make the Summer of Yes. . .where they agree to say yes to anything they normally said no to--within their moral boundaries, of course. This agreement leads to some interesting adventures.

I enjoyed reading about both Kelsey and Georgina in The Summer of Yes. Georgina was mostly grumpy and Kelsey was mostly sunshine. Together they made quite the duo. I liked how the book progressed and learned to love both characters--as well as a few more. Early on in the book, Kelsey's mom suggested maybe the accident that landed her in the hospital was a "disruptor" to help her make some life changes. I could relate to that having had my own health issue "disruptor" three summers ago. I liked this book and the message it sent. There was also themes of forgiveness and redemption which I liked. And I liked the HEA ending.

There are also questions in the back of the book. I think The Summer of Yes would make a great book club discussion.

I requested this book at my local library and was the first to check it out! All opinions within this review are my own.
