Sometimes it doesn't feel like God is hearing our prayers. Or maybe it feels like we don't know how to pray "good enough." Gifts From Heaven: True Stories of Miraculous Answers to Prayer compiled by James Stuart Bell is an uplifting book overflowing with true life stories of answered prayer.

Gifts From Heaven contains forty stories of answered prayers from ordinary people. The stories are each different. Some people had miraculous healing, others were divinely protected and still others received answers that were a little different than what they expected but were still what they considered to be miraculous answers from God. Some stories were more uplifting than other stories but all of the stories left me thinking about God and how He can touch all of our lives when we spend time in prayer with Him.

I like books with short true stories in them to uplift me like Gifts From Heaven. I like that I can read just one or two or a few in a day and put the book down and pick it up when I need it again. I also think this book could be uplifting for someone going through a difficult challenge of some sort who needs a reminder that God does indeed hear our prayers so it could be a nice gift book for someone.

5-Minute Bedtime Treasury by Hannah C. Hall Illustrated by Steve Whitlow

The 5-Minute Bedtime Treasury by Hannah C. Hall is a beautifully illustrated children's book with some fun rhyming stories inside it. Measuring roughly 8 1/4 inches square it is a fun size to read in bed together. This story book is aimed at pre-school children up to age 4. There is one story that talks about going to school so kindergarten children may enjoy it as well. There are six stories in the 5-Minute Bedtime Treasury.  God Bless You and Good Night God Bless My Friends God Bless My School God Bless My Family God Bless My Home All of these stories are illustrated by Steve Whitlow with what I would call softly-vibrant pictures. The pictures look soft and warm and yet are vibrant in color. I think they are just gorgeous and well liked by children.
