Encouragement for an Exceptional Life by Victoria Osteen

 

If you need a dose of encouragement, Victoria Osteen offers that in her new book, Encouragement for an Exceptional Life. 

This little book is a great size to carry in your purse or book bag as it measures about 4 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches. Encouragement for the Exceptional Life pulls uplifting stories and Bible teachings from Osteen's larger book, Exceptional You! This smaller book has 7 chapters, following the introduction: Know That You are Chosen, Set Your Eyes on the Promises, Align Yourself with God, Encourage Yourself, Travel Light, Love Well, and Power Up. At the end of each chapter, there are a few words of declaration to say to yourself to be help you put these things into practice. Osteen calls them all practices and encourages readers to keep doing them to help them reach for the exceptional in their own life. In the Introduction, Osteen says that they are all meant to be encouraging, empowering and inspiring.

The other nice thing about Encouragement for an Exceptional Life is that it is easy to pick up when you have a few minutes to read. When you do, you know that you will be reading something that will be lifting up your spirits. This little book would also make a nice gift for someone else who needs a little does of encouragement too. I think it is a nice size to add to a gift basket.

5-Minute Bedtime Treasury by Hannah C. Hall Illustrated by Steve Whitlow

The 5-Minute Bedtime Treasury by Hannah C. Hall is a beautifully illustrated children's book with some fun rhyming stories inside it. Measuring roughly 8 1/4 inches square it is a fun size to read in bed together. This story book is aimed at pre-school children up to age 4. There is one story that talks about going to school so kindergarten children may enjoy it as well. There are six stories in the 5-Minute Bedtime Treasury.  God Bless You and Good Night God Bless My Friends God Bless My School God Bless My Family God Bless My Home All of these stories are illustrated by Steve Whitlow with what I would call softly-vibrant pictures. The pictures look soft and warm and yet are vibrant in color. I think they are just gorgeous and well liked by children.
