Capture the Moment by Suzanne Woods Fisher

Capture the Moment by Suzanne Woods Fisher is the first book in her new National Parks Summer series. I can't deny that this unique cover caught my eye initially--I love it! I am also a huge parks fan as nature is my happy place so I was looking forward to this one. It did not disappoint!

After working as a zoo photographer for a few years, Kate Cunningham is ready for a new challenge. She sets out to snag a photo of a legendary bear in the Grand Teton National Park with her hopes set on publishing it in National Geographic magazine. Unfortunately, when she gets to the park, she realizes she has some learning to do to make that shot. Wild animal photography requires some additional skills to her zoo animal photography.

Grant Cooper, also known as Coop, is a seasoned ranger who spends summers working at the park in between his regular teaching job. He has also been nursing a broken heart after his former girlfriend jilted him to marry the principal of the school he works at. With his expertise both at the park and with the area bears, he helps Kate learn some of the ropes at the park.

I especially enjoyed getting to know both Kate and Grant in Capture the Moment. I liked how they brought out the best in each other and helped each other learn some new things they each needed to learn. I also liked the younger main characters of Frankie and Maisie who both shadowed the main characters. There was also a mystery to solve as someone is trying to poach one of the special bears at the park. There were some surprises along the way with this part of the plot-line. Part of it I guessed, and part of it, I didn't have figured out. The older rangers at the park include Sally and Tim, who I also enjoyed getting to know. Each of these characters in the book was unique and interesting in their own way. I also liked the faith element as it seemed realistic in the way that it was worked in to the story. All in all, I enjoyed this first installment in the National Parks Summer series and am looking forward to the next book.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions within this review are my own.
