An Unexpected Texas Reunion by Heidi Main

 


Do you like books with dogs as part of the story? I do. As you can see in the photo above, I have a doodle similar to the service dog on the cover of An Unexpected Texas Reunion by Heidi Main. I have to admit the dog aspect made me want to read the book.

Brenna Park and Owen McCaw were once boyfriend and girlfriend. Then Brenna broke up with Owen because she didn't like his chosen career based on her own family life growing up. Instead of explaining, she didn't give him reasons. She just ghosted him and walked away. Then he eventually married someone else, who passed away as the result of an accident and left him with a baby daughter. 

Now Owen has come back home. Brenna and Owen are running a summer camp at his parents' ranch because Owen's mother broke her leg and can't physically do it. Can Brenna and Owen put the past behind them and work together? 

An Unexpected Texas Reunion is a happy ending Love Inspired book. I like to read these occasionally when I am in the mood for a quick read with a happy ending. This one had a lot of miscommunication and lack of communication issues between characters to start with. That isn't one of my favorite tropes so it made this book a bit more difficult for me to get into. However, if you don't mind that aspect then you will likely enjoy the book. A least as the book went on, it was good to see some of the issues resolved. I did enjoy the dog, Lulu, being part of the story as a service dog too. Also, An Unexpected Texas Reunion is part of the Triple C Ranch series. I read this book as a stand-alone and it may have been more meaningful if I had read the other books in the series.

Loyally Luke by Pepper Basham

  Loyally, Luke by Pepper Basham is the third book in the epistolary series following Authentically, Izzy and Positively, Penelope.I have been anxiously awaiting this book and pretty much squealed when it came in the mail! Luke Edgewood is a guy who works in the construction industry and has remodeling skills. He wears flannel and he likes his dogs and he likes his sisters--but he isn't romantic like they are. Or so he says.In Loyally, Luke, Luke goes to Skymar to work a construction job on a orphanage that happens to be in a castle. He also has a run-in with a Princess as he comes in to the country with a migraine in desparate need of coffee--so yeah, that didn't go so well. Book Review: The Story Keeper by Lisa Wingate

I was thrilled to be part of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Books this year. . I am a members of Circle 17. . .a group of 5 sisters who committed to reading Lisa Wingate's book, The Story Keeper, and sharing our thoughts with one another. . .a traveling book group. I loved this idea and was truly tickled to get to read an advance copy and partake in all of the fun. I also received a pretty notebook from the sister before me to keep my stories in. First of all, I need to share that this year God has had a running theme in my life that "my story matters."
