The Charmed Library by Jennifer Moorman has been a treat for me to read. I was excited to receive an arc. 

Stella Parker is an Assistant Librarian in the small town in the South where she grew up. She still carries sadness from her father's death and her mother leaving the family early in her life. She also had a recent break up. She loves working with books as she is a word person. Words appear to Stella and give her insights into other people.

Stella stumbles into another magical element when she is in the library after hours. She learns that some of the fictional characters she remembers have come to life. She especially enjoys meeting Jack Mathis who is Stella's first book crush and a fictional hero from a World War 2 novel. 

I enjoyed this trip into a small town library adventure with Stella. I haven't read a lot of magical realism so for me this was a treat. I liked the reference to some of my favorite book characters. I enjoyed seeing Stella grow and change as the book went on. I could relate to her feeling stuck and reluctant to change at the start of the book. The Charmed Library is a clean read with a magical touch that was a fun adventure. I would recommend it to anyone who loves words and books and would enjoy a magical library escape.

Loyally Luke by Pepper Basham

  Loyally, Luke by Pepper Basham is the third book in the epistolary series following Authentically, Izzy and Positively, Penelope.I have been anxiously awaiting this book and pretty much squealed when it came in the mail! Luke Edgewood is a guy who works in the construction industry and has remodeling skills. He wears flannel and he likes his dogs and he likes his sisters--but he isn't romantic like they are. Or so he says.In Loyally, Luke, Luke goes to Skymar to work a construction job on a orphanage that happens to be in a castle. He also has a run-in with a Princess as he comes in to the country with a migraine in desparate need of coffee--so yeah, that didn't go so well. Book Review: The Story Keeper by Lisa Wingate

I was thrilled to be part of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Books this year. . I am a members of Circle 17. . .a group of 5 sisters who committed to reading Lisa Wingate's book, The Story Keeper, and sharing our thoughts with one another. . .a traveling book group. I loved this idea and was truly tickled to get to read an advance copy and partake in all of the fun. I also received a pretty notebook from the sister before me to keep my stories in. First of all, I need to share that this year God has had a running theme in my life that "my story matters." It has shown up in my art journal class, in an on-line Bible study, I received a "Your Story Matters" necklace for Mother's Day from my hubby who is my greatest encourager and then I received my chance to read, The Story Keeper.
