Book Review: Little One, God Loves You



Geared for children ages four and under, this little book shares the five purposes of The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. Amy Warren Hulliker, Rick Warren's daughter, wrote this book to help little ones start to grasp a few basic concepts about God and the Christian life.

This board book "lets children know God made them solely for the purpose of loving them." The rhythmic wording is one that is easy to read over and over, like the little ones like to do with their favorite books.  Besides the simple repetitive words written for little ones to easily understand, the beautiful illustrations by Polona Lovsin are captivating. The animals look so cute, cuddly and lovable that even my 14-year old thought they looked like he could reach out and pet them. The pages are also thick and sturdy for little ones to hold and look at on  their own.

This would be a great book to give little ones to help them learn that God loves them and that we in turn love others. It would make a nice gift, as well as buying one for your own family.

5-Minute Bedtime Treasury by Hannah C. Hall Illustrated by Steve Whitlow

The 5-Minute Bedtime Treasury by Hannah C. Hall is a beautifully illustrated children's book with some fun rhyming stories inside it. Measuring roughly 8 1/4 inches square it is a fun size to read in bed together. This story book is aimed at pre-school children up to age 4. There is one story that talks about going to school so kindergarten children may enjoy it as well. There are six stories in the 5-Minute Bedtime Treasury.  God Bless You and Good Night God Bless My Friends God Bless My School God Bless My Family God Bless My Home All of these stories are illustrated by Steve Whitlow with what I would call softly-vibrant pictures. The pictures look soft and warm and yet are vibrant in color. I think they are just gorgeous and well liked by children.
